LocalTeams is a social organiser for casual sports or group activities: pickup football, LAN parties, 2v2 padel, pub quizes, basketball, poker nights etc.). The system is envisioned and designed to be a federated, mimimally configurable (plug-and-play) FOSS alternative to the current ecosystem of proprietary, for-profit tools that a public club might use (meetup.com, doodle.com, WhatsApp polls, Google forms, GoodRec, etc.). Features supported by the current prototype of LocalTeams include: activity creation, player registration, game history, player position and reliability metrics (lack of cancellations). Additional features include: push notifications, payment tracking, an SEO-friendly club information page, automated team generation, the ability for players to submit private player ratings in order to automate fair team generation in competitive sports. Each club will have the option to host their own instance, communicating with other instances via an extended version of ActivityPub. This allows players to join games hosted by external clubs. Players will also be able to publish games to other federated instances, change their home instances easily, etc.
